本プロジェクトの考え方として参照したのは、様々な社会実験でした。

社会実験に関しては、

実験として人が扱われるという点から

人道的な問題と常に向き合い続けなければならないのですが、

ポイントは、どう参加者の感情を解放する事ではないかと考えています。

本作では、参加者が今迄自分の中にあった視点を皮切りに、

新たな視座を拡げて行ける様な仕掛けを設けています。

本作が当初ロンドンで上演する筈だった2020年(パンデミックで延期)は、

英国がEUから離脱したばかりの頃でした。

その様な場所で個人の国民性の在り方を問う様な作品を上演出来る事は

とても刺激的だと感じていましたが、

2022年ようやく上演された時にもリラックスした中で

老若男女が意見を活発に交わし合う様に本作品の拡がりを感じました。

 

その後の世界はどうなったかといえば、

私達は日本で未だこのパンデミックを引きずり、

現実世界では終わる目処も立たない戦争が続き、

現在の世界の情勢はより不寛容さを増したとも言えます。

私達の日常や個人間のやりとりでさえも、

「よかれと思って」した事の結果が、

相手を傷付けるという事も多くあります。

ただそれを不寛容な社会、と一言で済ませば良いのか。

相手の立場に立って思考する事をやめて良いのか。

そこで私達は社会実験の要素を用い、

自らの潜在的に持っている感情について作品を通じ向き合い、

体感して貰う、「社会実験劇場」を立ち上げたいと考えました。

私達で、どうか私達が形成する共同体とは何なのか、

その問いに向き合うきっかけとなればと思います。

The idea of this project referred to various social experiments.

In terms of social experiments,

we have to constantly confront humanitarian issues

because people are treated as experiments,

but the key point is how to open up the emotions of the participants.

In this production, we have set up a mechanism that allows the participants

to become aware of new perspectives within themselves.

The year 2020 (postponed due to the pandemic),

when this work was originally scheduled to be performed in London,

was when the UK had just left the EU.

I found it very exciting to be able to perform a work

that questioned the nature of individual national identity in that location,

and when it was finally performed in 2022,

I saw the potential of this work in the way

people were still actively exchanging their opinions.

 

As for what has happened to the world since then,

we are still feeling this pandemic in Japan,

wars continue in the real world with no end in sight,

and the current world situation has become more intolerant.

Even in our daily life and personal interactions,

the consequences of what we do for the good of others can often be hurtful.

But is it enough to just call it

an "intolerant society"?

Can we stop thinking from the other person's point of view?

That is why we have set up the 'Social Experimental Theatre',

which uses elements of social experimentation

to confront and experience our own latent feelings

through our work.

We hope that we can provide an opportunity

to face the question of what is the community that we form.
